Description	:	Funeral services were held Monday at the First Methodist Church in Red Oak for Ray T. Beals, 53 a former resident of Mills County whose death occurred the proceeding Thursday at the home of a son in Red Oak Robert Beal. He had been ill since last December The Rev. Lloyd A. The son of John and Emma Beals he was born at Strahan June 17, 1905 and lived in Iowa all of his life. He was united in marriage with Miss Fern Culver and to this union six children were born all surviving him except David who passed away in 1945. Ray loved to work hard, always giving his best to whatever task he was doing. He was a farmer and loved the earth and all growing things. He farmed for many years south of Emerson, moving to a farm near Red Oak in 1946. He was a member of the Methodist church and put the same love of a task done well in the many church ofices he held. He never complained, always accepting the good and the bad in the same way. He was a good Christian man, a devoted husband and loving father. He was a director of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau and had been a rural school director in both Mills and Montgomery Counties. Surviving are Mrs. Beals, two sons, Robert R. and Donald M. of Red Oak; three daughters, Mrs. Jo Ann Cheney of Sidney, Mrs. Margaret Hayes of Boston, Mass., and Elizabeth Kay of Red Oak; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Beals Sr. of Malvern; two sisters, Mrs. William Staten of Glenwood and Mrs. Vaughn Hoover of Malvern; four brothers, Marion of Malvern, John and Dallas of Edgar, Mont., and Max of Russell; 13 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host friends. Relatives attending the services from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Max Beals and three sons of Russell, Mrs. Dale Beals, Marilyn and Judy and Merle Simmons of Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Staten of Glenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Frederickson and Mr.s and Mrs. Oscar Beals of Malvern. Malvern Leader – 15 May 1958
