Kinnison, the fourth child of Henry and Hannah Kincannon Kinnison, was born July 19, 1887, on a farm near Angus, Nebraska. He was one of twelve children. Ray passed away at the Nebraska Veterans Home in Grand Island Sunday, October 26, 1980, at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 7 days. Ray was united in marriage with Amy Vesta Brooks August 29, 1908. To this union two daughters, Audrey Blanche McCracken and Marjorie B. Munro, were born. Amy Kinnison passed away October 21, 1916. Audrey McCracken passed away April 18, 1955. January 25, 1923, Ray married Kathleen E. Dolan. To this union two sons, James Raymond and Morrison Dolan, were born. Ray farmed in Nuckolls and Clay Counties until 1916 when he went to Colorado. He settled south of Akron, where he bought land and farmed. In 1928 he bought the general store and post office at Denova, Colorado. In the thirties and forties he did trucking between Denova and Denver. He was inducted into the Army at Nelson in 1918. He was at Camp Funston, Kansas, and was discharged from there. He belonged to the Modern Woodman Lodge of Angus and American Legion Post #53 at Grand Island. Mr. Kinnison is survived by his sister, Gertrude Skinner of Nelson; daughter, Marjorie Munro of Aurora, Colorado; two sons, James of Akron, Colorado, and Morrison of Otis, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 30, at the Urbauer Funeral Home in Edgar, with Pastor Charles Carter officiating. Military honors were given at the graveside by Warren Fletcher Post American Legion Post #248 at the Edgar Cemetery. Mrs. Robert Mikkelsen was the organist, with Wayne Johnson as the soloist, singing "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Casketbearers were Robert L. Kinnison, Byron Kinnison, Merton McCartney, Max Melvin, Garth Melvin and Orin Spurling.
