Description	:	Raymond David Ericson, 77, rural Akron died Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at his home after a long illness. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Union Creek Lutheran Church, rural Akron, with Rev. Steve Larson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Hoschler American Legion Post #186 of Akron and the VFW of Alcester. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Chad Ericson, Trent Ruhland, Jason Robinson, Tina Ward, Tim Vanderham, Gene Ericson, Travis Robinson, David Ericson and Tracy Vanderham. Honorary pallbearers were his great-grandchildren, Jessica, Kendra and Kyle Kenefick. Mr. Ericson was born August 13, 1925 in Union County near Akron to Alve and Anne (Petry) Ericson. He married Audrey Ericson at the Union Creek Lutheran Church, rural Akron. He served in the United States Army from 1944-1946, in the Philippines and the European theatre in Germany. After his service, he farmed his entire life in Union County on the same farm on which he was born. Mr. Ericson was a member of the Union Creek Lutheran Church and the Church Council, American Legion Post #186, the Alcester VFW, Union County REG Board, Clay Rural Water Board, Farmers Cooperative, and Sioux Valley Township Board. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting and music events and playing golf and cribbage. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bruce and his wife Patty of Akron; a daughter, Paulette Vanderham and her husband Darold of Alcester; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Ruhland of Akron; nine grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ericson was preceded in death by a son, David, a brother, Robert and a nephew, Ky Ericson.
