He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on 4 January 30, the son of Charles and Cleo (Mott) Pater. He enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1947 and served until May of 1949. He married Marilyn Jean Lauer on 12... Read More	Raymond G. Pater, Age 77 of Hamilton passed away on 1 Sept 07 in the Vitas Hospice Unit at Fort Hamilton Hospital. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on 4 January 30, the son of Charles and Cleo (Mott) Pater. He enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1947 and served until May of 1949. Ray began his career as a firefighter on the Hamilton Fire Department on 1 June 1952. In May of 1954 he was drafted back into the United States Army and served until May of 1955. He married Marilyn Jean Lauer on 12 November 55 in St. Stephens Church. They celebrated almost 52 years of marriage. He retired from the Hamilton Fire Department after 31 years of service obtaining the rank of Deputy Chief. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf and softball. He is a member of the Butler County Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame. He graduated from Hamilton High School and was a member of St. Peter in Chains Church. Ray is survived by his wife, Jean; two sons, Raymond M. Pater and Shawn (Christine) Pater both of Hamilton; a daughter, Jill (Jim) Burns of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; a sister Jeanette (Paul) Ortolf; brother-in-law John (Frances) Coleman; six grandchildren, Layne (Azure) Herrington; Adam Burns; Emily Burns; Katelyn Pater; Morgan Pater; Annika Pater; one great-grandchild, Traye Herrington, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Pater; three sisters, Hazel Coleman; Wanda Gadd; Lorraine Sweet; one sister-in-law Wanda Pater; two brothers-in-law, Ernie Sweet and James Gadd; two nieces Cindy Frady and Karen Pater; two nephews Ernie Sweet Jr. and Johnny Coleman.
