Description	:	Ray was baptized and confirmed at the Hope Reformed Church in Sutton, Nebraska, where he remained a member all of his life. He served as an elder for many years and taught Sunday school. Ray graduated from Sutton High School in 1939. Following high school he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. It was World War II and Ray, along with young men of his generation, were honored to serve their country. Read More	Ray was baptized and confirmed at the Hope Reformed Church in Sutton, Nebraska, where he remained a member all of his life. He served as an elder for many years and taught Sunday school. Ray graduated from Sutton High School in 1939. Following high school he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. It was World War II and Ray, along with young men of his generation, were honored to serve their country. He was stationed in Texas, Maryland, New York, Florida, Georgia and Alabama during his years in the service. He was a mechanic engineer and a pilot flying B-25s and B-26s. Ray's Air Corps career included training other pilots. He was a proud veteran and was active in the American Legion and the 40 & 8. Ray returned to Sutton after his discharge from the service. He went into business with his father, Pete, and brother-in-law, Walter Trautman and opened the Sutton Food Locker in1946. Ray and Walt were fixtures in the Sutton business community until 1976 when they sold the business. Ray didn't retire from the Sutton business scene and worked for Ted's OK Tires. He was also a volunteer with the Sutton Fire Department serving more than 40 years. Ray loved hunting and fishing with family and friends. Ray's nieces and nephews were like his own.
