Myers, son of Issac and Sarah Myers, was born on a farm in Pilot township, Iowa county, Iowa Dec. 12, 1876. He passed away at the Memorial hospital in Marengo May 23, after suffering a stroke on Friday, May 20. He had attained the age of 83 years, 5 months and 11 days. He was united in marriage to Bertha Wade of Victor on Apr. 15, 1899, and to the union four children were born. After their marriage they farmed southeast of Victor until the spring of 1948, when they moved into Victor, where he had lived ever since. Ray, as he was familiarly known, united with the First Methodist church of Victor a number of years ago. He served as clerk of Lincoln township for many years and a director of the R.E.A. for a long time. He leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Barker of Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Gladys Collingwood of Williamsburg; two sons, Russell and Irving, both of Victor; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife on Mar. 10, 1952; one brother, Walter, and one sister, Mrs. Rena Twedt. Funeral services were held from the McAninch chapel Wednesday, May 25 at two o'clock, with the Rev. Nelson F. Grote officiating. Arthur Lang sang two solos, "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the City Four Square," with Mrs. George Keller organist. Taking care of the flowers were Mrs. William Weisskopf and Mrs. Hill Barker. Casket bearers were Orville W. Bloethe, Joe Safken, Hill Barker, Willaim Weisskopf, William Merck and Henry Seibert. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor.
