Myers Dies At Home Of Daughter Victor: Walter R. Myers, 74, rural mail carrier here for 30 years, passed away Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. F. Hardenbrook, in Marengo. Mr. Myers' health had been failing for some time and he had been confined to his home for about a week. His daughter had been with him during his last illness and he was taken to her home on Friday. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Methodist church, the Rev. J. J. Pritchard of Wayland officiating. Mrs. Dean Stockton, accompanied by Betty Ellis, both of Marengo, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer." Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. A son of Benson and Sarah Myers, he was born in Iowa county July 31, 1872. Mr. Myers was united in marriage to Ella Mae Smith of Ainsworth Jan. 23, 1894. They farmed for a time south of Victor, moving later to a farm near Washington. In short time they came back to Victor, where the home has remained for the past 47 years. Mr. Myers continued his work as rural mail carrier until resigning on account of his health after 30 years of service. The deceased man had been a member of the Methodist church for many years. Among those who are bereaved by Mr. Myers' death are his daughter, Mrs. Rhea Hardenbrook of Marengo; a brother, Ray Myers of Victor, and three grandchildren, Donald, Doyne and Keith Hardenbrook. His wife, one son, one daughter and one sister, Mrs. Rena Tweedt, preceded him in death.
