Description	:	Sigourney - Raymond John Osweiler, 74, of Sigourney, died on Monday, Nov. 14, 1994 at Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney following a lengthy illness. He was born northwest of Sigourney in Keokuk County on June 29, 1920 to Edward and Frances Vogel Osweiler. He attended Webster High School. He farmed northwest of Sigourney and was a master appraiser. He married Vida Harper on July 20, 1940; she died on July 30, 1986. Read More	Sigourney - Raymond John Osweiler, 74, of Sigourney, died on Monday, Nov. 14, 1994 at Keokuk County Health Center in Sigourney following a lengthy illness. He was born northwest of Sigourney in Keokuk County on June 29, 1920 to Edward and Frances Vogel Osweiler. He attended Webster High School. He farmed northwest of Sigourney and was a master appraiser. He married Vida Harper on July 20, 1940; she died on July 30, 1986. He served in the Army Medical Corps from March 1, 1942 to Dec. 7, 1945. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the Sigourney VFW and American Legion. He is survived by two brothers, James of Oskaloosa, and Leo of Las Vegas, Nev.; five sisters, Geneva Striegel and Trudy Lester, both of Des Moines, Elizabeth Yoakam of Keswick, Jody Bair of Pella and Rita Navarre of Anaheim Hills, Calif.; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Gladys Sue Strout of Pella. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vida; and two brothers, Harold and Hubert. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sigourney, with the Rev. Philip Ryan officiating. A Christian wake service will be held this evening at 7 p.m. at St. Mary's. Visitation is open today after 2 p.m. at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in Sigourney. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sigourney. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, and the Keokuk County Health Center.
