Realto Stratemeyer was born in Carroll and recieved his education in the Carroll schools. He was married in Carroll Oct 12, 1904 to Miss Edna Wilmers. They have one daughter Wilma, Mrs E Fredrickson, Lake City and one grandchild, Robert. Mr Stratemeyer had been in business with his brother Homer in the Carroll Marble Works, having come to Carroll from Emmetsburg, where he had been a druggist. He had not been well for the past year and went to Iowa City several weeks ago for examination. He re-entered the hospital a week ago and underwent a major operation Thursday morning from which he seemed to rally but succombed early this morning. Mr Stratemeyer had a retiring nature, although he took an active part in affairs of the community. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and was prominent in activities of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Signet Lodge No. 264, A.F. and A.M., of Copestone chapter No. 78, R.A.M., of Cryptic Council No. 38 R. and S.M. and of Azgad Commandry No. 63 of K.T. He held many high offices in Masonry, having been past master, past commander and past high priest of the chapter at Emmetsburg, his former residence. He was a life member of the Shrine at Cedar Rapids. Surviving are his wife, his daughter Mrs. E. Fredrickson of Lake City and his brother, Homer. Sept 12, 1934 - Carroll Daily - Funeral services for Realto Stratemeyer, who died yesterday morning at 1 o'clock at the University hospital at Iowa City, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Huffman Funeral Home. The body was taken this morning from the Huffman Funeral home to the Stratemeyer residence on North Court street, where it will remain until tomorrow noon. The Rev. Henry C. Schneider will be in charge of the services, and the Rev. Claude R. Cook will offer prayer. The Knights Templar will provide an escort. Interment will be made at the Carroll cemetery, and the services will be in charge of the Masonic lodge. All Masonic bodies of Signet Lodge No. 204 Copestone Chapter and member of Azgad Commandery are requested to meet at the Masonic Lodge.
