Description	:	Allerton News Rebecca Campbell Young was born in Athens Co., Ohio Dec. 1 1828 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.A. Kidd at Oelwein, Iowa, Dec. 12, 1912, aged 84 years and 12 days. The remains were shipped to Allerton and the funeral at the Christian church was well attended. Elder S. H. Kidd at Oelwein, Iowa, Dec. 12, 1912, aged 84 years and 12 days. The remains were shipped to Allerton and the funeral at the Christian church was well attended. Elder S. H. Hedrix assisted by Revs. Polly and Thomas conducted the exercises. The deceased was the second wife of Major Merritt Young to whom she was married Nov. 1, 1857; she was therefore a wife and mother in a pioneer home while her husband was passing through some terrible battles during the war. She became a Christian in early life and maintained a strong faith and increased in her devotion and therefore was known and esteemed as a faithful Christian, a goodwife and mother and friend by all who knew her. Any list of the good women in Allerton or Wayne County that did not include Mrs. Young would be incomplete. Her husband and one daughter died in Allerton several years ago. Two daughters, Mrs. Abba Kid of Oelwein, Iowa and Mrs. A. B. Duden of this county remain to cherish the memory of a noble, affectionate Christian mother.
