Mrs. John Bowman, one of our oldest and best citizens passed, out of this life Saturday, July 26, 1919, at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Mary McNeilIy, east of Lentner, with whom she had made her home, and had been cared for as a baby since she failed in health and strength. This good mother was born June 8, 1834, and was married to John Bowman on September 25, 1860. Mrs. John Bowman, one of our oldest and best citizens passed, out of this life Saturday, July 26, 1919, at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Mary McNeilIy, east of Lentner, with whom she had made her home, and had been cared for as a baby since she failed in health and strength. This good mother was born June 8, 1834, and was married to John Bowman on September 25, 1860. To this union were born five children, three girls and two boys as follows: Mrs. Annie Troup, Mrs. Emma Harris, Mrs. Mary McNeilly and John, Jr., of this county and Robert of Oklahoma. All were with her during her last illness, except Robert. Mr. and Mrs. Bowman moved from Lewis county here in the year 1881 and united with the Oak Ridge Baptist church, where they were always faithful in attendance and reared a fine family at their farm home about two miles south of Oak Ridge church. Mr. Bowman passed away March 13, 1918. She leaves, besides her five children, twenty grand children, several great grand children, two brothers and two aged sisters, namely: Jim Painter of California; Wm. Painter of Plevna; Mrs. Jane Lindsey of Illinois and Mrs. Mary W hite of Newark, Mo. The last named attended the funeral which was held at 3 o'clock at Oak Ridge church. The sermon was preached Sunday by Rev. G. W. Humphrey of Maywood, Mo., who gave a very fitting discourse in the presence of a packed house of sorrowing relatives and friends................
