Description	:	Rebecca Haines, daughter of Nathan & Elizabeth Woolman Haines, was born in Green Co, OH, Aug 27 1827, and died at her home in Hudson twp, March 6, 1902, aged 74 yrs, 6 mon, 7 days. In 1829 she moved with her parents fro Ohio, and settled on Pokagan Prairie. In 1829 she moved with her parents fro Ohio, and settled on Pokagan Prairie. The following spring, 1830, they moved and settle near Hudson Lake, where she has since resided, except a few years that she lived in Michigan. In 1847 she was united in marriage with Moses Emery. To this union was born seven children, three of which preceded her to the better land. She is to be classed with the earliest pioneers, who settled here in what was then an undeveloped wilderness, which she has seen and aided in bringing to its present usefulness. Her parents were Quakers and she was raised in Quaker belief, which simplicity of religious belief clung to her all through her life, although she united with a class of Methodists at Hudson, under the leadership of Rev. Stafford. Her main characteristic was her deep interest in the welfare of her children. During her long illness she was a patient sufferer, no complaint having ever crossed her lips, and ever ready with a word of encouragement to those near her. She leaves to mourn her loss, two sons and two daughters, Nathan Emery and Mrs Susie Everett, of Watertown, S Sa., John Emery and Mrs Sadie Garoutte, of Hudson twp, besides two brothers, Jesse Haines, of Hudson Twp, and Nathan Haines, of Stafford, Kas., also three grand-children and three great grandchildren with numerous other relatives and friends.
