Read More	OBITUARY - Shelby County Herald, Wednesday, November 12, 1902 issue: Bacon Chapel News -- We are again called upon this week to chronicle the death of an old pioneer, one who was probably as well and widely known as any person in Shelby County--Aunt Rebecca Barr, born inn Washington Co VA; Jan 15, 1821. She moved with her parents to Monroe Co Mo, in 1837 where they lived several years when she married to James R. Barr and moved to Shelby Co. She joined the M.E. Church, South, when 14 years of age and ever after lived a consistent christian life till her death in Clarence Mo., Thursday, Nov 7 1902, at the age of 81 years, 9 months, 22 days. A week ago she fell from her back door and sustained internal injuries from which she never recovered. Her husband died many years ago and her three children are all also dead, thus not only has the end of a long, useful life come to end but to all of a good family. A better one never lived than the old Barr family. Oh, what a host of friends met our dear old aunt on the bank of the heavenly Jordan. Her funeral was preached at the Chapel Friday to a large crowd, by her pastor W.O. Medley, assisted by Revs. Swearengen and Wimberly. Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep. OBITUARY - Clarence Courier, Wednesday, November 12, 1902 issue: DEATH OF MRS. BARR -- Mrs. Rebecca Barr died at the home of Andy Barr in this city last Thursday morning after a brief illness caused by a fall which she received just a few days before her death. Mrs. Barr was in her 82nd year. She was born in Washington Co., Va. She joined the M.E. Church South at Otter Creek, Monroe county in her fourteenth year and has lived the life a constant christian lady ever since. The remains were interned at Bacon Chapel on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W.O. Medley preaching the funeral discord. BACON CHAPEL. The funeral of Mrs. Rebecca Barr was held at this place last Friday conducted by Revs. Wimberly and Swearingen. She died Thursday at her home in Clarence. Her death was caused from a fall which she received about a week before her death.
