Description	:	On 18 November 1954 he lost by lot to settle a tie the election as Sartoria Township Clerk. Son of Lester and Pearl (Jones) Shafto, was born near Poole, Nebraska on November 17, 1911. He passed away at Kearney hospital on August 6 at the age of 47 years, none months and 23 days. He moved with his parents near Sartoria while small and lived there the rest of his life. He passed away at Kearney hospital on August 6 at the age of 47 years, none months and 23 days. He moved with his parents near Sartoria while small and lived there the rest of his life. When a boy and young man, he was a faithful attendant of the Pleasant Valley Sunday school and later when the church was closed he went to the Brethren Church at Elder Grove. On October 12, 1940, he was united in marriage to Thelma Fread and to this union four children were born, three sons, Jerry, Larry and Delmar; one daughter, Donna Jean(Kapps). Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Pearl Shafto of Amherst; one sister, Mrs. Wilma Wiese of Miller; one brother, Robert of Amherst; a number of nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends. He was known as a kind and loving husband and father, a faithful friend and a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
