Harms, of Deshler, Nebr., by Rev. Stewart, of Mahaska, Kansas. Miss Ada Lacy (sic), sister of the bride as briedsmaid (sic) and Weite Harmes as the best man. As Miss Mary Lacey played the wedding march, the bridal party took their places and in a short space of time the words were spoken that joined two loving hearts for life. The bride looked very sweet in a beautiful white messaline with over dress of shadow lace and pearls, orange blossoms and veil. The groom wore black. Shortly after the ceremony the guests numbering about twenty or thirty were invited into the dinning room to partake of the substantial and dainty good things to eat to which all did ample justice. The bride is a very lovable and sweet young lady and will be greatly misssd (sic) by her parents, brothers, and sisters besides a host of friends as they go to the far west to make their home. The groom comes from the west part of the county near Deshler, but for the past year he has been preparing a home (near Sidney, Nebr.,) for his bride, where they will move about the first of March. Their many friends join in wishing them a happy and prosperous journey up the hillside of time. ======================= The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, August 29, 1985; pg. 18 & 19 Rennie Harmes Rennie Oma Harmes, the daughter of Alfred and Nora Clapper Lacey, was born August 22, 1890, in Republic County, Kans., and died at the Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron on August 15, 1985, at the age of 94. She married Harmon A. Harmes on January 28, 1914 at Mahaska. She spent her entire life in Thayer County. She resided at Parkside Manor in Hebron the past five years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hebron. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on February 17, 1971; a granddaughter, Joan Hobelmann; five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Evelyn) Holmes of Hebron, Mrs. Lloyd (Arlene) Derowitsch of Belleville, Mrs. Don (Norma) Friesen of Harvard; two sisters: Mrs. Mary Baskins of Poulsbo, Wash., and Mrs. Lois Lichty of Fairbury; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Hebron with Rev. William B. Anderson officiating. Interment was in Chester Cemetery.
