(Source: Harlan County, NE Marriage Records) ================================ The Fairbury Journal-News (Fairbury, NE), Thursday, August 17, 1944; pg. 8 Obituary - Mrs. Nora Lacey Mrs. Nora Lacey, a resident of Jefferson county (sic), Nebr. for a number of years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Harroun of Fairbury, Wednesday, August 9, 1944, at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 3 days. Nora May Clapper was born October 6, 1871 in Mahaska county (sic), Iowa near Osceiola (sic), the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Clapper. On February 22, 1883 she married Alfred Lacey and to them 11 children were born, two daughters, Eunice Margaret and Eugenia Clare, preceding her in death. Following her marriage she moved to Kansas where she spent a number of years, later moving to Thayer county (sic) and Jefferson county (sic), Nebraska. Following her husband's death September 26, 1918, she returned to her girlhood home in Iowa. During the past five years, because of declining health, she lived alternately with her daughters. She united with the Methodist church when a young woman. Surviving are nine children, Jay, Mrs. Lois Lichtey and Mrs. Ada Mae Harroun, all of Fairbury, Mrs. Rennie Harms of Deshler, Nebr., Mrs. Mary Baskins of Poulsby, Washington, Robert of Billings Mont., Theodore, Frank and Lawrence, all of Feather Falls, Calif.; by 32 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Traum's chapel with Rev. J. LaVerne Jay, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial at Chester, Nebr.
