Description	:	Reuben Blank Elwell, son of Jeremiah and Dora Elwell, was born April 8, 1886, at Washington, Kans. When he was about 10 years old, he and his parents came to the Chester community. He was united in marriage to Minnie Heine on July 30, 1914. He spent most of his life farming in the Chester community. He served in later years as a custodian in the Lincoln Public Schools. Read More	Reuben Blank Elwell, son of Jeremiah and Dora Elwell, was born April 8, 1886, at Washington, Kans. When he was about 10 years old, he and his parents came to the Chester community. He was united in marriage to Minnie Heine on July 30, 1914. He spent most of his life farming in the Chester community. He served in later years as a custodian in the Lincoln Public Schools. Since 1955 has (sic) has been a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and by one son, Willard. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. J.E. Woodward of Chester; a brother, Frank Elwell of Winner, So. Dak.; five sons, Milford of Westminster, Calif., Max of Fort Wayne, Ind., Leonard of Chester, Donald and Robert of Lincoln; three daughters, Lula (Mrs. Loren Schuelke) of Lincoln, Birdene (Mrs. Arlon Van Beek) of Lincoln, Fona Mae (Mrs. Robert McCloud) of Seattle, Wash.; 22 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Elwell passed away on March 8th at the Blue Valley Lutheran Home in Hebron following a prolonged period of ill health. He had attained the age of 77 years and 11 months. The funeral service was held Thursday, March 12, at 2:00 p.m., the Rev. Donald Patterson officiating. Music was provided by W.C. Firnhaber, organist, and Mrs. Alvin Poppe and Mrs. Arno Sell who sang, "Abide with Me." Casket bearers were Fred Kuhlmann, Arthur Rossmiller, Henry Heidbrink, Grant Duey, J.F. Gausman, George Sell. Interment was in the Chester Cemetery. Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
