The following provided by Find a Grave contributor "Cara": The River Press, Fort Benton, Mont., 9 July 1975 Reuben Dedman Passes Friday Reben E. Dedman, 80, a long time resident of Chouteau county, died Friday morning, July 4, 1975, in Seattle. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Benton Funeral Home with Rev. Chet Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery with military honors. Mr. Dedman was born May 22, 1895, in Sweet Springs, Mo., son of Martin and Cordelia Dedman. His father died when he was 9 years old. After graduation from high school he came to Montana and about 1914 was one of the early homesteaders in the Russell section. He sold his homestead when he entered the army in 1917. He served in France and was wounded in action in the Argonne. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal and Purple Heart and received a letter of commendation from President Woodrow Wilson. After discharge from service he studies veterinary medicine and worked as a cowboy in the Powder River country. He later formed a partnership with his stepfather in the Pleasant Valley area. On Dec. 20, 1924, he was united in marriage to Gladys Buffington. They farmed in the Russell area for many years and for the past 27 years have lived in Fort Benton. Survivors include his wife and three children, Earl of Bothel, Wash., Dorothy Preston of Hot Springs, Mont., and Elsie Younggren of Edmonds, Wash.; and fifteen grandchildren. ..........
