Archbishop Daniel Sheehan of Omaha presided at the funeral Mass. Reifenrath, 96, was the second-oldest priest in the Omaha archdiocese. He died Thursday, August 30, in Beemer after a lingering illness. Born July 24, 1889, in Wynot, Reifenrath was educated at Creighton University and Marquette University. After theology studies at St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, MN, he was ordained in St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. He served as assistant pastor of St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Omaha, pastor of St. Leo Parish in Snyder, NE, pastor of St. John Parish in Fordyce, then was assigned to the parish in Beemer, where he stayed until he retired in 1950. He has been living in Beemer since his retirement. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. Burial was in the parish cemetery in Beemer. ***** Thursday, September 6, 1984 FUNERAL HELD FOR FORMER AREA RESIDENT beemer, ne--Funeral services were held at Holy Cross Church in Beemer for the Rev. Daniel F. Reifenrath, a retired pastor of the Beemer parish. Archbishop Daniel Sheehan of Omaha presided at the funeral Mass. Reifenrath, 95, was the second-oldest priest in the Omaha archdiocese. He died in Beemer after a lingering illness. Born July 24, 1889, in Wynot, Neb., Reifenrath was educated at Creighton University and Marquette University. After theology studies in St. Paul Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., he was ordained in St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. He served as assistant pastor of St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Omaha, pastor of St. Leo Parish in Snyder, Neb., where he built a new church, pastor of St. John Parish in Fordyce, Neb. for eight years, then he was transferred to St. Aloysuis in Aloys, Nebr. His final assignment was as pastor of St. Henry's Parish near Howells. He retired in July, 1950. He has been living in Beemer since his retirement. Survivors included a number of nieces and nephews. Burial was in the parish cemetery in Beemer. Attending from Crofton were: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Arens, Mrs. Mary Ann Leise, Mrs. Clara Reifenrath, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Reifenrath and Mr and Mrs. Lawrence Reifenrath.
