Born February 21, 1918, in Union County, NC, he was the son of the late George Washington and Mary Alice S Sistar and was married to Elsie May James Sistar. He was a US Army veteran during World War II, serving with the 129th General Hospital as a medical technician. Ervin Sistar, 81 U.S. Army Veteran Rev. J. Ervin Sistar, 81, of Lancaster, SC, died Friday, November 26, 1999. Born February 21, 1918, in Union County, NC, he was the son of the late George Washington and Mary Alice S Sistar and was married to Elsie May James Sistar. He was a US Army veteran during World War II, serving with the 129th General Hospital as a medical technician. He served churches in the Virginia Presbytery and later supplied church in Lancaster and surrounding areas. He was a carrier for "The State" and was an employee of the Heath Springs Merantile Company. He was a member of the staff of the Ervin Elementary School from 1975 until his retirement in 1981. Surviors include his wife, a son of Lancaster; and two brothers, of Lancaster, SC and Marshville, NC. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Gilbert Rowell, Dr. Roy E. Beckham and Guy Smith, with burial in the Unity ARP church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home and other times at the home. Cauthen Funeral Home was in charge.
