Perry Olin Silvara was born November 26, 1883 in Greeley County, Nebraska and was the oldest child of Mr. and rs. Charles Silvara. He was born in a sod house that his parents had established after the Silvara family had traveled by covered wagon from Iowa. Perry graduated form Lucas Iowa High School. He taught school for a time and then attended Central University of Pella, Iowa, from which he also graduated. He was a graduate of Central Baptist Seminary of Kansas City, Kansas, and worked on his Masters Degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary at Fort Worth Texas. Perry met Miss Leona Watt while they were both teaching school. She also attended Central University at Pella, Iowa and they were married September 1, 1908 at Villisca, Iowa, at the omen her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rowland Watt. She was buried September 1, 1953. Perry Silvara served several years as Field Secretary of Nebraska for the American Baptists. During this time he organized and built a church building at Arnold, Nebraska. He pastored numerous churches in Missouri, including First Baptist Church of Booneville, Missouri and the First Baptist Church of Webb City, Missouri. Mr. Silvara is survived by his children; 3 sons, and 2 daughters; Lowell Silvara, Independence, Missouri, Melvin Silvara, Oroville, California, Raymond Silvara, Uniontown, Kansas, Marguerite Silvara Birkes, Montezuma, Kansas and Harriett Silvara Housman, Columbus, Kansas, 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Other survivors are a sister, Miss Golda Silvara and three brothers, John Silvara, Richard Silvara, and Roy Silvara and nephews and nieces.
