Description	:	Stephen J. Letourneau was born January 28, 1942, at Concordia and grew up northeast of Aurora. He died April 4, 1993, in an automobile accident in Saline County. Father Steve was a Roman Catholic priest, ordained June 1, 1968, in the Diocese of Salina. He served as associate pastor at St. Mary's in Hays, Sacred Heart in Colby and St. Mary's in Salina. Father Steve was a Roman Catholic priest, ordained June 1, 1968, in the Diocese of Salina. He served as associate pastor at St. Mary's in Hays, Sacred Heart in Colby and St. Mary's in Salina. He was assigned as pastor of St. Philip's in Hope and St. Columba's in Elmo in 1972. He served as chaplain of Marymount College of Kansas from 1976 to 1980. In 1980, he became chaplain of St. Joseph's Hospital, Concordia, and was appointed director of pastoral care in 1982. He was appointed chaplain and director of pastoral care at St. John's Regional Health Center, Salina, in 1987, with residence at St. Mary's Parish, Salina. He also served St. Patrick's parish in Gypsum. He was active in marriage and family counseling with Lutheran Social Services, Christian Counseling and Consultation and Counseling and Growth Center, all of Salina. He was very active in Hospice work. He was a member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and Kansas Association of Chaplains. His fraternal memberships included 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge No. 1428, Concordia. Survivors included two brothers, Robert and Donald; and his godparents, Louis and Olive Letourneau.
