He was a son of the late James Austin Evatt Jr. and the late Mary Edith Mulrahney Evatt. He received his masters in Theology from Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, New York. Read More	Monsignor Thomas Austin Evatt, 53, of 2214 Ridgewood Ave., Anderson, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at his residence. Born in Providence, R.I., May 18, 1950. He was a son of the late James Austin Evatt Jr. and the late Mary Edith Mulrahney Evatt. He received his masters in Theology from Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, New York. He was ordained for 27 years. He previously served as pastor of St. Cyprian's Catholic Church in Georgetown, Precious Blood Catholic Church in Pawleys Island, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Summerton, Stella Maris Catholic Church in Sullivan's Island, Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Greenville and St. Mary's Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken. Monsignor Evatt served as director of continuing education for the Diocese of Charleston and was active in Marriage Encounter for many years. Surviving are a lifelong friend, Joseph Norris, of the home; three brothers, Michael Evatt, of Simpsonville, John Evatt, of Travelers Rest, and James Austin Evatt, of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anderson at 11 a.m., with the Most Reverend Robert J. Baker officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The vigil for the deceased was held Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Very Reverend Steven L. Brovey presiding. The body is at The McDougald Funeral Home. The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic School, Building Fund, 1303 McLees Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
