Rex Close Beckwith, the son of Fred and Irene Palmer Beckwith was born Nov 19,1887 at Neligh and died Nov 16,1982 at the West Holt Memorial Hospital following a stroke. At the age of 14, he moved with his family to a farm three miles west of Emmet. He was united in marriage Nov 10,1938 to Minnie F Seger at Bartlett. He and his wife farmed northeast of Emmet and later on the home place became their home. They lived there until they retired and moved into Atkinson. Mrs Beckwith died Jan 28,1979. His special interests were fishing, baseball and Nebraska football. Survivors include; three brothers, Ralph of Atkinson, Dean of ONeill, Verne of Boulder, Colorado. Three sisters-in-law of this area; Hazel Beckwith of ONeill; Mrs Vernon Keeney of Norfolk; Mrs Darwin Seger of ONeill; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers, and a sister.
