Description	:	Richard Allen Beckius, son of Joseph A. and Goldie Fern (Norwood) Beckius, was born August 11, 1946, at Superior, Nebraska. He passed away Sunday, September 26, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 53 years, 1 month and 15 days. Dick was raised in Superior and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1964. He was a very talented basketball player. Read More	Richard Allen Beckius, son of Joseph A. and Goldie Fern (Norwood) Beckius, was born August 11, 1946, at Superior, Nebraska. He passed away Sunday, September 26, 1999, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 53 years, 1 month and 15 days. Dick was raised in Superior and graduated from Superior High School with the Class of 1964. He was a very talented basketball player. On December 13, 1963, he set the school record for scoring with 40 points. Dick was a four-year letterman and was named Athlete of the Year for the 1963-64 school term. After graduation he attended Kearney State College. He served in the United States Navy from August 20, 1968, and was honorably discharged January 16, 1973. November 14, 1971, he married Linda Springer. Dick worked as a car salesman in Superior for several years. He was employed at Ray's Auto in Superior at the time of his death. He was a member of the Superior Country Club and the Superior VFW. Dick was involved in many sports activities. He spent many hours and miles traveling to watch Cory participate in sporting events. He especially enjoyed golfing and bowling. Preceding him in death were his father, Joseph, and one brother, Donald. Survivors include one son, Cory of Omaha, Nebraska; his mother, Fern of Superior; one brother, Joe and his wife Hettie of Hayward, California; and one sister, Evelyn Warne and her husband Burt of Mankato, Kansas. Funeral services were held Thursday, September 30, 1999, at 10 a.m., at Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor James Brackett officiating. Music was "The Old Rugged Cross", "Because He Lives" and "How Great Thou Art" with Marsha Cline as soloist and Glenda Thayer-Hiner as organist and accompanist. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Warne, Rodney Beam, Tim Gouldie, Rick Hiatt, Brad Biltoft and Roger Moler. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of arrangements.
