Rounsevell Mortuary records of Lead state that Richard Burnett died of acute dilatation of the heart on January 9, 1930; age - 57 years; religion - Methodist; funeral at parlors at 2:00 p.m. on January 14, 1930; died in Springdale, Alleghany County, Pennsylvania. Lead Daily Call newspaper, January 10, 1930 - "Richard Burnett Dies At Daughter's Home. Mrs. Richard Burnett, of Lead, last evening received word of the death of Richard Burnett, her husband, at the home of their daughter, in New Kensington, Pa., where Mr. Burnett had gone in an effort to recuperate his failing health. Mr. Burnett had been in eastern points for some time in the interest of his health. In addition to his widow, he is survived by a son, Richard, Jr., and a daughter, Violet, of Lead and three married daughters making their homes in various parts of the county. Mr. Burnett's body will be shipped to Lead for burial, but the date and arrangements for the funeral are to be announced later. The deceased had been a resident of the Hills for many years, and though the family has lived here in Lead, Mr. Burnett, for a number of years prior to his departure for the east, was employed by the Lane Construction company, of Rapid City." Lead Daily Call, January 11, 1930 - "Date of Burnett Funeral Pending Arrival of Body. Arrangements for the funeral services for Richard Burnett, whose death came at the home of his daughter in Pennsylvania after a lengthy illness, will not be made pending the arrival of the body here. When the services are held, however, they will be from the Rounsevell undertaking parlor, and will be conducted by the Rv. A.G. Campbell, pastor of the Methodist church. In addition to Mrs. Burnett and his son and daughter here, Mr. Burnett is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. W. Granner of Berke, Idaho, who is expected to arrive here on Monday; Mrs. Dennis McKenna, of Detroit, who is expected to arrive here tomorrow, and Mrs. Henry Winwood of Springdale, Pa., who will be unable to come here for the services. Richard Burnett, who was born December 28, 1872, in Cornwall, England, came to Lead about 35 years ago. With the exception of about ten years during which he was employed in Rapid City, he has made his home here continuously since his arrival here. The date of the services will be announced as soon as the body arrives here from Pennsylvania." Lead Daily Call, January 13, 1930 - "Funeral services for Richard Burnett Tuesday. Funeral services for the late Richard Burnett will be held tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Rounsevell funeral parlors, it was announced today. The Rev. A.G. Campbell, pastor of the Methodist church, will conduct the last rites. interment will be made in the Municipal cemetery."
