Description	:	Richard “Dick” Brubaker, 74 of Napoleon, Ohio died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at the Henry County Hospital in Napoleon. Dick was born January 18, 1944 in Napoleon to the late Richard L. Brubaker and Dorothy (Jackson) Slee. Richard died in 1948 and Dorothy was remarried to Walter “James” Slee. Dick was born January 18, 1944 in Napoleon to the late Richard L. Brubaker and Dorothy (Jackson) Slee. Richard died in 1948 and Dorothy was remarried to Walter “James” Slee. On July 6, 1974, Dick married Cathy (Frisinger) Brubaker at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Defiance, Ohio. Dick was a 1961 graduate of Napoleon High school and was an outstanding multi-sport athlete. After high school he worked at the Charles Company in Napoleon and Defiance for several years. In 1975 he started working at 7Up bottling company in Napoleon and Toledo, where he worked until retirement. Dick was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon; serving as a school board member, elder, and usher. He served as Past President of Defiance Chamber of Commerce. He was very active in Henry County United Way and was the 1994 recipient of the Jim and Kae Clark Award, which honors the top volunteer in the United Way program. Dick was also recognized by the American Heart Association in 1993 for his outstanding dedication and service. In his retirement, Dick enjoyed volunteering at the Henry County Hospital and driving cars for Snyder Chevrolet. Dick also followed and cheered on many Napoleon athletes and was honored as a lifetime member of the Napoleon Athletic Boosters in 2009 due to his extensive dedication to NHS Athletics and the Buckenmeyer Stadium Committee. Dick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cathy; daughter, Cara (Jeff) Ressler of Napoleon; grandchildren, Caely, Kellen, and Tessa Ressler; brothers, Kenneth Brubaker of Napoleon and James “Shark” Slee of Ashville, NC, brother-in-law, Paul Limpach of Defiance, and sister-in-law, Susan (David) Dill of Napoleon. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Larry “Moe” Brubaker, William Brubaker, Linda Limpach, and Steven Brubaker. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 23rd at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Napoleon. A private burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon at a later date. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at Rodenberger Funeral Home, Napoleon and Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul Lutheran Church, United Way of Henry County, or Napoleon Athletic Boosters.
