Read More	ELWOOD -- Richard Henry William Dickmeyer, 82, formerly of Arapahoe, died Monday (Oct. 10, 2005) at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge. He was born July 28, 1923, to Henry F. and Rose C. (Niemann) Dickmeyer at their home in rural Gosper County. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1940. He entered the U.S. Navy in August 1943. He served as a gunner on the Alice H. Rice and the U.S.S. South Dakota. He was discharged in February 1946. He married Helene A. Wendland on Jan. 25, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Arapahoe. He worked as a farmer and rancher and he worked in construction. He moved to the Elwood Care Center in Elwood in July 2005. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, American Legion Post No. 96 and Burtons Bend VFW Post No. 9357 of Arapahoe. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Joe Mayer. Survivors include his wife, Helene A. Dickmeyer of Arapahoe; four sons, Richard Lee of North Platte, Kim Leon and wife, Stephanie Dickmeyer of Venango, Gary Ray and wife, Claire Dickmeyer of Stuttgart, Germany, and David Martin of Arapahoe; daughter, Rosellen Ann Dickmeyer of Hastings; two brothers, Leon and wife, Dorothy Dickmeyer of Arapahoe and J.D. Dickmeyer of Safford, Ariz.; sister, Ellanor Schoenefeld of Fort Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Jeff W. Ernstmeyer officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery. Military rites will be given by American Legion Post No. 96 of Arapahoe. Visitation will be today, until 8 p.m., and Wednesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to services at the church. Condolences can be left online at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe is in charge of arrangements.
