P. Weltner, officiating, on Sunday, Jan. 9, at 2 o'clock in the presence of relatives and friends, when Miss Elsie Kuhlmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kuhlmann, of Byron, became the bride of Mr. Richard Meyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Meyer, of Superior. The bridal party entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march, played by Mrs. Fred Mohrmann. Entering first was Marcella Kuhlmann, sister of the bride, as flower girl. Following her were Betty Kuhlmann, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid, and Edward Meyer, brother of the groom, as bestman. Entering next was Ilene Kuhlmann, sister of the bride, as ringbearer. Following her were Frances Meyer, cousin of the groom, and Edgar Kuhlmann, brother of the bride as bestman. Following them were the bride and groom. The bride was beautiful in her floor-length wedding dress of heavy white winter satin with a long train, made on the princess line, with long sleeves tapering at the wrists, and a lace yoke with buttons down the back. She wore a fingertip veil held in place by a crown of white beads. She also wore a yellow gold locket, gift of the groom. The groom wore a navy blue suit. Ushers were Wilbur Kniep, cousin of the bride, and Harvey Schroeder, cousin of the groom. A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents, and a six o'clock wedding supper was served to about sixty guests. The bride's table was decorated in blue and white. The centerpiece was a three-tiered wedding cake with a miniature bride and groom, baked by Betty Kuhlmann, sister of the bride. The bride and groom were the recipients of many lovely and useful gifts. They will make their home on a farm east of Superior. ======================= The Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, March 26, 1992 Richard Herman Fredrick Meyer, 78, son of Harry and Margaret (Gerdes) Meyer, was born Dec. 8, 1913, at Nelson. He died March 18, at the Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital. Services were Saturday at Centennial Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Albrecht officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. As a young boy, Richard grew up in Nuckolls County, attending rural country schools. He was baptized Jan. 5, 1914, and on March 18, 1928, was confirmed at the Smyrna Evangelical Salem's Church. He was united in marriage to Elsie Kuhlman at Byron, Jan. 9, 1944. To this union two daughters were born. Richard and Elsie farmed all their lives, raising grain and livestock. He also owned Meyer Truck Line for 20 years. At one time, he had been active with the Valley Home school board, the Farmers Union Coop Elevator, Superior, and the board of the Bostwick Irrigation District. He served as secretary for all three groups. He was a member of Centennial Lutheran Church. On any given Saturday, he could be found at the sale barn. He was a music lover, especially the big band music. He also worked in his shop, building and repairing for himself and others. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Jim Pursell (Margaret), and Mrs. Steve McGowan (Marlene), both of Superior, a brother, Elmer, Superior, grandsons, Jim Pursell, Hastings, and Rick Pursell, Superior, step-grandchildren, Kim and David Williams, Superior, Shawn and Tina McGowan, Fremont; step-great-grandchildren, Heather, Lauren and Amy Williams, all of Superior. The Williams Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
