Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Akron. Reverend Patrick Behm will celebrate Mass. Deacon Richard Port will be assisting. Arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home – Schroeder Chapel in Akron. Richard Joseph Coyle was born March 21, 1928 in Akron, Iowa, the son of Everett and Cordelia (Trudeau) Coyle. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Akron. He attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1946. Following high school, he farmed in Union County, South Dakota. He was united in marriage to Barbara Lamoureux on September 26, 1949 in Akron. Early on, they lived in Union County, South Dakota until 1956, when they moved to Akron. Rich went to work for Dirks Motor in Akron as a salesman. He retired in 1990 after 34 years with Dirks Motor. He was lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Akron. He was a member of the Chevrolet’s Legion of Leaders Honor Club and the Akron Eagle’s Club for many years. He also served on the Akron Fire Department for 12 years and served two terms on the Akron School Board. He was Board President when the new school was built. Through the years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and an avid golfer. But most of all, he loved the times spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of nearly 66 years, Barb of Akron; his children: Tim Coyle of Onawa, IA, Collin Coyle (Laurie) of Akron, Diane (Todd) Krekovich of North Platte, NE, Connie (John) Smith of Scottsdale, AZ, Pat (Dawn) Coyle of Olathe, KS, and Dana (Tammy) Coyle of Akron; 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; his siblings: Shirley (Emelio) Chavez of Fountain Valley, CA, Jerome Coyle of Albuquerque, NM, Patricia (George) Olson of Sioux City, IA, and Tom (Linda) Coyle of Overland Park, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
