Richard graduated 1963 from Burr Oak, KS. Richard served in the US Army National Guard. He married Linda S. Valcoure on June 21, 1968 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Aurora, KS. She preceded him in death on August 9, 2016. Richard was the Cloud County Solid Waste Director for 33 years. He also worked for the Cloud County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Aurora and the American Legion Concordia. His hobbies included camping, hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and family. He is survived by his daughter, Rachel Gropp (Vince) & son, Travis Mills (Kim), both of Concordia; 6 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lloyd Mills, Jr. (Pauline), Colorado Springs, CO.; Howard Mills, (Samantha), Hebron, NE.; 2 sisters, Wanda Wyatt, Hastings, NE.; Marietta Nickel, Colorado Springs, CO, several nieces & nephews & a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda S. Mills, parents, 2 sisters, Loyce Warren, Shirley Mills. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Friday, October 20, 2017 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Cremation will take place and Inurnment will be held 10:30 am, Monday, October 23, 2017 at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Aurora, with Rev. Dean Frazier officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 9 pm, October 19, 2017 and the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Pheasants Forever in care of the funeral home.
