He died at his home in Inglewood, Cal., August 28, 1962, aged 52 years, 1 month and 2 days. Richard's early years were spent in Fairmont. Upon graduation from Fairmont High School, he attended Hastings College, a Presbyterian College in Hastings. After his college years he located in California, and at the time of his death lived in Inglewood, and was the owner of a sprinkler business--the Allied Sprinkler company of Los Angeles. He died at his home in Inglewood, Cal., August 28, 1962, aged 52 years, 1 month and 2 days. Richard's early years were spent in Fairmont. Upon graduation from Fairmont High School, he attended Hastings College, a Presbyterian College in Hastings. After his college years he located in California, and at the time of his death lived in Inglewood, and was the owner of a sprinkler business--the Allied Sprinkler company of Los Angeles. Richard was a member of the Olivet Lutheran Church in Inglewood, being a faithful member and devoting much of himself to helping others. Preceding him in death were his father, Francis Mahlon Kemp, who died December 25, 1930; and his mother, Mamie J. Kemp, who died November 1, 1952. Richard leaves to mourn his sudden passing his wife, Jeanne Beatrice; his daughters, Mary Jean Carter, Marianne Theresa Purcell, Elizabeth Marie Chapman and Lynda Christine Kemp; also, a brother Francis Mahlon Kemp of Los Angeles; and a sister, Marian Kemp Karnes, of Omaha, Neb. ; his grandchildren, Richard Lewis Carter, Mark Douglas Champion, Denise Marie Campion, and Steven Christopher Purcell. Funeral services were held at the Olivet Lutheran Church in Ingelwood, Cal., Friday, August 31st at 8 p.m., and at the Federated Church in Fairmont, Neb., Monday, September 3, at 2 p.m. Pallbearers at the Fairmont service were Lewis Karnes, Don Nelson, Ray Nedrow, Wesley Robbins, James Taylor and Robert Taylor.
