Description	:	Richard Query was born January 3, 1852 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada and passed from this life at his home in Nodaway, Iowa, April 28, 1935 at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 25 days. Read More	Richard Query was born January 3, 1852 in Chatham, Ontario, Canada and passed from this life at his home in Nodaway, Iowa, April 28, 1935 at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 25 days. His death came suddenly even though his health has been failing for more than three years. Mr. Query was the son of James and Elizabeth Query and a member of a family of eight children, all of whom have preceded him in death with the exception of one brother, John Query who lives north of Villisca, Iowa. He with his parents spent the greater part of his boyhood in the timber woods of Michigan, later moving to Illinois and coming from there in covered wagons to the White Oak district near Nodaway, Iowa. He was united in marriage December 6, 1876 to Miss Amy Pierson at the home of her sister, Mrs. C. W. Lyon south of Nodaway. To this union was born six children, two of whom have preceded their father in death, and one daughter, Elizabeth Gray passing in 1919, Mrs. Query preceded her husband in death November 3, 1933. Mr. Query leaves to mourn his loss the one brother, John and four children, Mrs. Kathryn Melvin, Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs. Amy Smith, Prescott, Iowa, Mrs. Eunice Melvin, Bedford, Iowa, and J. W. Query of Sioux City, Iowa, along with 13 grandchildren and 4 great-granchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Query lived on a farm near Nodaway until 1932 when they moved to town and spend several winter in Florida and California. They together united with the Evanglical Church of McMillan School early in life later uniting with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Nodaway, where they were active members until death. He is one of the older residents of the community and has a wide acquaintance with a large circle of friends who with the relatives will miss him greatly.
