Description	:	Richard Raines, who departed this life about noon on Sunday, Oct. 9, 1904, was born in Yorkshire, England, February 17, 1835. He came to this country in 1865, settling first in Illinois, where he lived a number of years. About twenty years ago he moved to a farm a few miles southeast of Beaver Crossing. About five years ago he left the farm and came to Beaver Crossing. Mr. Raines was first wedded to Miss Sarah Duffield. This union was blessed with ten children, five of whom are still living. He came to this country in 1865, settling first in Illinois, where he lived a number of years. About twenty years ago he moved to a farm a few miles southeast of Beaver Crossing. About five years ago he left the farm and came to Beaver Crossing. Mr. Raines was first wedded to Miss Sarah Duffield. This union was blessed with ten children, five of whom are still living. In 1879 he was married to Mrs. Lydia Bondurant. To them were born three children, all of whom are dead. He leaves a wife and five children, with a large circle of friends to mourn his departure. He was converted, when a young man, in England and united with the Wesleyan Methodist church. When he came to this country he at first cast his church fellowship with the United Brethren Church. After moving to Nebraska he joined the Evangelical Association of which church he was a faithful member until death.
