Description	:	Richard Stanek was born August 26, 1914 at Parshall, North Dakota to Frank and Flora (Drha) Stanek and he died on November 9, 2012, at the Butte Healthcare Center in Butte, Nebraska at the age of 98 years. Richard moved with his family to the Gregory, South Dakota area in 1934. He graduated from Gregory High School in 1937. He then went to work at a CCC Camp in Custer, South Dakota. Read More	Richard Stanek was born August 26, 1914 at Parshall, North Dakota to Frank and Flora (Drha) Stanek and he died on November 9, 2012, at the Butte Healthcare Center in Butte, Nebraska at the age of 98 years. Richard moved with his family to the Gregory, South Dakota area in 1934. He graduated from Gregory High School in 1937. He then went to work at a CCC Camp in Custer, South Dakota. He returned to the family farm near Paxton, South Dakota in 1939 to farm with his family. In 1942, Richard moved to Omaha, Nebraska where he worked at a Meat Packing Plant and also in an Aircraft Factory. He enlisted in the Army in October of 1944. While overseas he took part in the invasion at Normandy, landing on Omaha Beach. Following his discharge, he returned to the Dallas and Paxton area to continue farming. On July 10, 1972, Richard was united in marriage to Marie Schock. Richard served as a janitor with the Naper School for many years. They remained in Naper until 2001, when they moved to Burke due to health reasons. Following Marie's death in 2005, Richard resided at Silver Threads in Gregory and most recently at the Butte Healthcare Center in Butte, Nebraska. Richard is survived by his sister, Mable Vomacka of Gregory, SD; his brother, Lambert Stanek of Gregory, SD; several nieces and nephews; his step-children and their spouses: Delores Schock, Vivian Alexander, Neita (Wayne) Andersen and Phyllis (Melvin) Schrader; as well as several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Flora; his brothers: Frank and Robert; his sister, Florence McCauley and by his nephew, Frank McCauley. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Clausen Funeral Home in Burke. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service. Burial will follow at the Baptist Cemetery near Naper, Nebraska
