Mr. Edler was born on January 9, 1943 in Chestertown, MD, the son of the late Robert R. Edler and Retha Mae Kendall Gsell. Read More	Robert Alvin Edler, Sr. of Chestertown, MD, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE. He was 73. Mr. Edler was born on January 9, 1943 in Chestertown, MD, the son of the late Robert R. Edler and Retha Mae Kendall Gsell. He was a 1961 graduate of Chestertown High School and the following year he married Patricia L. Price, they were married for 52 years. She predeceased him on April 29, 2014. Mr. Edler worked as a Barber with College Heights Barber Shop on Washington Ave. in Chestertown for 52 years. He was well known for lending a sympathetic ear, telling jokes, and was a good storyteller. His hobbies include watching state and local sporting events, especially Kent County High School, Washington College, and his grandchildren’s events. He also enjoyed both flyfishing and spin fishing, traveling (especially to Disney), and mostly Mr. Edler loved people. He is survived by a son, Robert A. Edler, Jr. and wife Kathy, a daughter, Gale Lynn Chambers all of Chestertown; four grandchildren, Charles ‘Bud’ Chambers, Jessica Marie Chambers, Robert A. Edler, III and Joseph Claude Edler; a great granddaughter: Rylee Lynn, two half-sisters, Patricia Townsend (David) and Nancy Dlugoborski (Alex), along with a niece whom he and his wife raised: Debbie Hudson (Rick) of Chestertown. Services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home 130 Speer Road Chestertown where relatives and friends may call on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Interment will be in Chester Cemetery, following the service.
