Born in Bonaparte, IA, he was a son of the late George B and Lena Belle Rockefeller McComb. He was a graduate of Des Moines University and did graduate studies at the University of Iowa. He served in the Navy 1917-1918 at Charleston, taught in Van Buren County, Iowa schools for 25 years and was Superintendent of the Douds-Leando, Cantril and Milton Public Schools. Surviving: sons, Richard B McComb of Norfolk, VA; Robert "Bob" McComb of Orangeburg. Robert Bruce McComb (Lena Belle, Mary Jane, Nancy Jane, George, Robert, Robert, John) born 18 Dec 1891, Bonaparte, IA. He married 9 Aug 1917, Cantril, IA, Rilla Bennett Saar, born 2 Jan 1893, Cantril, IA. Bruce served in the Navy during World War 1. He began teaching in the rural schools when he was 17 years old and became Superintendent of Douds and Milton, Iowa. Bruce had many talents and interests, among which were music photography and radio. He was a "ham" operator. In 1937 he became interested in the United States Weather Bureau and in a few years he became in charge of the Weather Station at Spokane, WA Airport. Bruce retired in 1957 and lived in Milton, Iowa. He and his wife celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in August 1967.
