Read More	POOR OLE BOB Grandpa Whiskers Robert "Bob" Edward Clark July 23, 1928 — April 13, 2003 Bob's journey began in Colorado. He was born to John Wesley and Minnie (Fennell) Clark on July 23, 1928. He attended school in Mesa County and Wilmington, Calif, * Bob was a very patriotic man. He joined the US. Army in 1948, and was on an anti-tank gun crew. He was honorably discharged in March, 1948, with a WW II Victory medal and Army of Occupation medal. Bob was also a typesetter for The Daily Sentinel for many years. On August 23, 1948, he married Dolly Armerette Inskeep. Together they had four daughters: Tanna (Ted) Carrico, Vikki (Jerry) Hicks, Kim (Elm) Birr, all of Grand Junction, and Kathi (Dan) Apted of Anchorage, Alaska. Bob was definitely a man's man. If he could have lived in a log cabin, that would have been his dream. He loved camping, hunting, fishing, prospecting for gold, telling ghost stories, and pulling pranks. His best adventure was when he went to Alaska and Canada for six months and panned for gold. Unknown to him (we think), he had jumped someone's claim. The Royal Canadian Mounties really frowned on that. We thought dad might be gone for longer than six months, but he was able to talk his way out of trouble. Unfortunately, he lost quite a bit of gold. He then decided that fishing and hunting were better hobbies to pursue. In 1972, he moved his family "North to Alaska" where he had the time of his life. They lived in a quansit hut and had moose in the yard. Life couldn't get any better for him. Two years after Dolly passed away; he met and married Ida Wilkenson. Ida told him that his life would never be boring with her. She was right. Together they owned a commercial fishing boat and used it every chance they got. Life was good. Bob and Ida also converted a PT boat into a fishing boat. He really enjoyed working on that boat. After a few years they sold the boats and decided to do some traveling. They had more air miles than they could count. Bob and Ida made sure that they divided their time equally between their combined families. They spent six months in Grand Junction and six months in Anchorage. Bob really enjoyed his family, especially the 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His face would light up every time one of them walked into the room. Bob always talked about finding the iron door with the gold bricks behind it. The last few years of his life, he became more spiritual. He wanted his Bible with him at all times. In Revelations, it tells about the New Jerusalem being the Heavenly City and in Revelations 21:21 the twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each individual gate was of one pearl and the street of the city was pure gold - like transparent glass. Eureka, he found it! We love and miss you Dad. Other survivors include his three sisters, Audrey Grant, Dorothy Grant, and Gertrude Mercer, all of Grand Junction. Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois and Margaret; and one brother, Jack. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 18th, at Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction. Pastor Dan Hooper officiating. Published in The Daily Sentinel.
