Description	:	ROBERT FITZGERALD CLARE – Robert E. Fitzgerald, 67, rural Clare, died Wednesday morning at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, following a sudden illness. Services will be 9:15 a.m. Saturday at the Sievers-Laufersweiler Funeral Home, Humboldt, and 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Clare, with the Revs. LeRoy Seuntjens and Jim Davis officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Survivors include his wife, Lois; sons, Bruce, Troy, Mo., Gary, Clare, and Terry, LeMars; daughters, Susan English, Clare, Tami Davis, Frederika, and Toni, Cedar Falls; 17 grandchildren; two brothers, James M., Panama City, Fla., and Leo, Clare; sisters, Dolores Anderson, Fort Dodge, and Madonna Strait, Storm Lake; and his mother, Helen, Clare. He was preceded in death by his father, James, and one son, Tedi Joe. He was born Jan. 5, 1926, near Clare. He attended St. Matthew's School in Clare. In 1944, he entered the United States Army, serving in the 44th Airborne Division in The Philippines during World War II. Following discharge, he returned to Clare, where he married Lois Oleson in 1948. They farmed near Clare, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Holy Name Society.
