Robert McCool was born September 22, 1943 in Miller where he grew up and received his education. He was a 1961 MHS graduate and a 1969 Huron College graduate. McCool, 42, Gering, NE, died Saturday, October 5, 1985 at the Scottsbluff, NE hospital. Robert McCool was born September 22, 1943 in Miller where he grew up and received his education. He was a 1961 MHS graduate and a 1969 Huron College graduate. In 1969 he moved to Gering and began teaching in the Lincoln Elementary School. He married Kathy Parmenter July 7, 1972 at Melbeta, NE. He furthered his education by attending summer school at Chadron State College and received his Masters Degree in 1973. He continued to teach in Gering and later moved to McKinley Elementary School where he taught until shortly before his death. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff, MEA, NSEA, Gering Education Association and was also a member of Phi Delta Kappa Educational Honorary. He is survived by his wife, Kathy McCool, Gering; one son, Jeff, 10, at home and one daughter, Robin of Aberdeen; his parents, William and Leona McCool, St. Lawrence; two brothers, Gary, Tryon, NC and Neil, Amity, OR; and three sisters, Marlene Nemec, Holabird, Sharon Campbell, St. Lawrence, and Janice McCartney, Sheridan, WY. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, at First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Rev. Ronald C. Croom officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery, Gering. Joliff Funeral Home, Scottsbluff, was in charge of arrangements.
