A memorial service was held Monday, May 24 at 2 p.m. at Reck Funeral Home in Miller with the Rev. David Andrews officiating. William McCool was born January 28, 1909 in Miller to Edgar and Anna (Johnson) McCool. He attended elementary school at McCool Country School. He lived his entire life in Hand County. He lived on the farm previously owned by his grandfather, J.C. McCool. Along with farming, he worked at a variety of jobs to make ends meet. On May 24, 1935, he married Leona McCarl in Ree Heights. To this union six children were born. In 1969 they moved to St. Lawrence where he resided until his death. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing pool, playing cards and fishing. In recent years, his coffee time was important to him. Survivors include five children, Marlene Joyce Nemec of Highmore, Sharon Alayne Campbell of St. Lawrence, Gary Lyle McCool of Tryon, N.C., Larry Neal McCool of Amity, Ore., Janice Leone Allen of Miller,; 23 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne McCool of Porterville, Calif.; and a sister, Anna Mae Kohler of Yorba Linda, Calif.
