The funeral was Monday at 10:30 a.m., from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jerry Heyenberk officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. Robert Gerald Denny, son of Gilbert G. and Georgia G. Adamson Denny, was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Guide Rock. He lived on a farm with his family during his childhood. He attended grade school in Superior and graduated from Superior High School in 1926. Following high school, he worked for the Charles Phillipi Funeral Home and the Zulauf Funeral Home. He received his funeral director's and embalmer's license in 1930. Later he purchased the Denny Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Superior. Oct. 15, 1930, he married Helen Elizabeth Martin in Mt. Clare, Neb. They lived their entire married life in Superior. He served his country with the United States Navy from May, 1942, to December, 1945, during World War II. A member of the United Methodist Church, he had been active in various organizations throughout his life including the Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the Tehama Shrine of Hastings, the American Legion and the Superior Country Club. Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Wilbur R. Denny, who died Dec. 15, 1988. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and two sisters, Mrs. Clay Barton (Orma) and Doris Shafford, both of Portland, Ore. Superior Express, Thursday, February 16, 1989
