He was born December 4, 1863 at Philedelphia, PA, the son of Charles H. and Anne Jane Stewart and came to Iowa at the age of six years and lived north of Bristow on the farm known as the Siefcan farm. Read More	The Dumont Journal Wednesday, September 20, 1950 ROBERT STEWART DIES MONDAY Robert Hill Stewart, Bristow's oldest businessman, passed away at his home Monday of complications incidental to advanced age. He was born December 4, 1863 at Philedelphia, PA, the son of Charles H. and Anne Jane Stewart and came to Iowa at the age of six years and lived north of Bristow on the farm known as the Siefcan farm. He was married to Miss Margaret Kephart at Bristow, June 1, 1890 and resided in Bristow. He established a wagon and woodwork shop in 1884, which he operated until he retired because of ill health. He had been bedfast most of the time since December 1949. They celebrated their golden anniversary 10 years ago. Surviving are his wife, three sons, Charles of DeWitt, Robert H. of Lake Preston, S.D. and George of Bristow; two daughters, Mrs. Earl Hemmingson of Davenport and Mrs. Roy Merfeld of Bristow; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; also, one sister, Mrs. Sarah Flanigan of Lafayette, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Elizabeth Ella, at the age of two years and Mrs. Clarence Starkweather; three brothers, Wiliam, Charles, and James; and two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Lockwood and Mrs. O.V. Hansell. The body is at Vogel Funeral Home in Dumont and will be brought to the Stewart home on Wednesday. Services will be held in the home Thursday at 1:30 PM and at the Bristow Evangelical U. B. Church at 2:00 PM. The Reverend Voss will be in charge of the services. Internment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Bristow. Ms's Audrey and Delores Duffield will sing "In the Sweet By and By" and "Beyond the Sunset". Pianist will be Miss Frances Wendt.
