Ross, 53, lifetime resident of Rose Hill township, passed away at his home, following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Rose Hill Church with the Rev. Ben Thaden officiating. Music was provided by members of the Rose Hill Choir. Interment was made in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers included Nova Palmer, Frank Halen, Eben Noyes, Ogee Johnson, Joy Duxbury and Roy McNeil. Robert J. Ross was born August 15, 1909, near Wessington, the only son of Angus and Bertha Ross. His entire life was spent in Rose Hill township where he attended school and later engaged in farming. He was united in marriage to Marjorie Smith on December 26, 1934. To this union one son was born, Ray. After the death of his wife in 1957, he made his home with his mother, where he passed away the morning of October 15, 1962. He was a member of the Rose Hill Sportsman's club and was interested in all community activities. Survivors include his son, Ray with his wife, Sharron; his mother, Bertha Ross, and one sister, Eva, Mrs Tony Fischer of Wessington; also several close relatives and a host of friends. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Marjorie, and his father.
