Description	:	Robert John "Bob" Ryan, 86, of Greeley died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Bob was born Oct. 25, 1924, on the family farm northeast of Greeley to John and Mary (Cannon) Ryan. Read More	Robert John "Bob" Ryan, 86, of Greeley died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Bob was born Oct. 25, 1924, on the family farm northeast of Greeley to John and Mary (Cannon) Ryan. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Jean of Greeley; six sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph of Greeley, Andy and Jackie of Greeley, Larry of Omaha, twin sons, Terry and Paula of Lincoln and Tom of Chicago and Paul and his friend, Deb of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Patrick and Eleanor Ryan of Greeley and Johnny and Elaine Ryan of Omaha; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marge Pfeifer of Omaha and Catherine Anne and Mike Sweeney of Greeley. Additional survivors include many nieces and nephews. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. Bob received his education at a country school and Sacred Heart School. From 1943-1946, Bob served in the United States Navy and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. On June 21, 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Jean Glaser at the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Spalding. This union was blessed with six sons. In 1951, he began his dairy farmer east of Greeley. The couple milked cows with a bucket until 1961 when they built a new barn and became a Grade "A" Dairy. They raised their family on the farm until they moved into a new home in Greeley in 1997. Bob continued to work on the dairy farm until 2001. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and National Farmers Organization. He enjoyed square dancing, traveling and seeing the country. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Mary Catherine Ryan; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Madeline Ryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Kenny Willnerd, and a brother-in-law, Leo Pfeifer.
