Mr. Kibbee went downstairs and in a short time the family heard the shot. A coroner's inquest stated it was a clear case of suicide. Ill health was given as the motive. Robert S. Kibbee was born in Jasper county, Iowa, Oct. 18, 1877, and passed away Oct. 3, 1935 at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 15 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Kibbee and was one of eight children, their being four boys and four girls in the family. The three brothers preceded him in death. Nov. 28, 1900, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Harris. The first years of their married life were spent in Brooklyn and later they moved to a farm in Minnesota. They moved back to Brooklyn about eight years ago. To this union were born three children, Edmund, Raymond and Elnora. When a boy Mr. Kibbee united with the Brethren church. Robie, as he was better known, enjoyed visiting with old neighbors and friends. He has been in ailing health the past few years. Surviving him are his wife, Emma, three children and three grandchildren, all of Brooklyn; four sisters, Mrs. Flora Porter of Richland, Mo.; Mrs. Curt Newton, Mount Vernon, S.D.; Mrs. C.W. Weatherly, Des Moines, and Mrs. Sam Smith, Brooklyn, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E.W.F. Holler, after which the body was tenderly laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
