Highland Recorder May 15, 1931 Just before going to press it was learned that the convict who escaped from the State camp at Vanderpool last Monday, was captured by LEE PAGE and Roy Pullin, Back Creek farmers, last evening. He came to the Page home asking for food, and when notified by Mrs. Page, Mr. Page, accompanied by Pullin, followed him and located him in a bum, a few miles away. According to reports, he showed the effects of the several days’ exposure, and seemed to be “all in.” It is learned that he had previously escaped from a camp in Orange county before being brought to work in Highland. Highland Recorder September 22, 1960 Funeral services were conducted Friday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. from Beulah Presbyterian Church at Mill Gap for Robert Lee Page, 88, of Vanderpool. who died Wednesday evening, Sept. 14, following an illness of several years. A son of the late John Page and Kisiah Page, he had made his home with a daughter, Mrs. M. E. King, for the past eleven years. Besides Mrs. King, he also leaves two other daughters, Mrs. W. G. Hull of Vanderpool and Mrs. Guy Ralston, Vanderpool; nine grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. The services were conducted by the Rev. A. E. Johnson and the Rev. Harold Skelton. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
