Description	:	Robert L. Turner, 84 of Kearney, died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney. Reverend Eric Lesher and Reverend Rebecca McDermott will officiate. Interment will follow at Elm Creek Cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Robert Lee Turner was born July 30, 1930 in Elm Creek, Nebraska to Earl and Sara (Lacock) Turner. He grew up in Odessa, Nebraska and was a 1948 graduate of Odessa High School. On January 15, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Gloria Peterson in Holdrege, Nebraska. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged later that year for medical reasons. He helped to start Bear Frame and Alignment and later started Turner Body Shop in 1969. Bob was a member of the First Lutheran Church, B.P.O. E. #0984 and a former member of the Kearney Optimist Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and playing fast pitch softball. Playing games and spending time with his family is what brought him the most joy. Survivors include his daughters, Chris (Fred) Daake of Grand Island, Barbara of Kearney, Donna (Gary) Giesenhagen of Kearney and son, Robert Jr (Jennie) of Kearney. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren; Kelli Daake of Grand Island, Kim (Daake) and husband, Jeremy Jensen of Grand Island, Amy Schmidt and husband, Ryan Johnson of Kearney, Tony and Ashley Turner of Kearney, Alexis Turner of Kearney, Jazlyn, Karlie and Robert Lee Turner III of Kearney, Shawna Giesenhagen of Kearney, Ryan Giesenhagen of Kearney and 7 great-grandchildren; Jada, Jalen and Jolie Jensen of Grand Island, Kaylie, Dylan Johnson of Kearney and Chassidy and Tony Turner Jr. of Kearney. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 6 brothers, 3 sisters and an infant grandson, Fred Daake III.
