Description	:	Robert (Rob) Louis Campbell, Jr., 66, passed away May 6, 2021 peacefully at home following a brave 5-year long fight with cancer. He was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on November 2, 1954, the son of Robert L. Campbell Sr. and Alice Elizabeth (Liz) Stewart Campbell. Read More	Robert (Rob) Louis Campbell, Jr., 66, passed away May 6, 2021 peacefully at home following a brave 5-year long fight with cancer. He was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on November 2, 1954, the son of Robert L. Campbell Sr. and Alice Elizabeth (Liz) Stewart Campbell. Rob was married to Carol Mirley in 1981 with whom he had one son, Ian Campbell. On August 19, 1989, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Elle (nee Eloise Trotter) Cotton. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Elle, his son Ian (the pride of his life), his step-son Mark (Hope Cain) Cotton, a sister, Gilly (Dale) Cook, a brother, Rex (Angie) Campbell, nieces and nephews: Nate and Megan, Sam, Morgan, Carson and Rylee. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Robert in 2003, his mother, Liz in 2004, his step-mother, Mary Allean in 2017, a step-sister, Mary Jaclyn (Jackie) in 1959, and a step-brother, David Haldiman in 2013. Robie, as he was known to his friends and family, spent the first few years of his life in Russellville living with his grandparents, Louis (Louie), whom he idolized, and Lenore Campbell. He often talked about his grandfather's machine shop and learning about steam engines, cars, tractors, and other machinery. When his father started the family car rebuilding business, he spent many hours helping around the shop and learning about auto painting and mechanics. He went to Jefferson City schools, graduating from JCHS in 1973. He attended college at Missouri Science & Technology in Rolla, intending to go into Structural Engineering but instead became interested in computer sciences, a field that served him the rest of his life. He was recruited by Central Bank in 1978 and started out as a mainframe operator, later taking the job as PC Tech as the field grew. His talent for solving problems became well known in the company and if someone could not solve a problem themselves, the solution was to "Call Rob." He taught himself programming and attended many seminars to further his knowledge of the field. He eventually became a Senior Tech in charge of email systems for the entire Central Bank company and the many banks owned by the holding company across Missouri and several other states. He retired from Central Bank at the end of 2019 after 40 years of service. Rob had an exceptional intelligence, a sharp wit, a remarkable sense of humor, and was a very kind person. Known to all as a Good Man, he was much loved and respected by his friends and co-workers. He could often be found working in his shop with metal, welding and constructing whatever was needed. He loved knives and spent many hours sharpening any type that needed it, often for friends and co-workers. He was proud of his Scottish heritage, wearing his Clan Campbell tartan tie and piper tie pin whenever dressing up. He enjoyed riding motorcycles from a young age and with his wife Elle, took several motorcycle road trips in the early 90s. Sundays were for watching car races especially NASCAR. He also loved his pets, especially the cats, and Precious (Daddy's Girl) in particular. His extraordinary capacity to love and care will be missed by all who knew him. Rob's body was cremated and a graveside service for family and friends will be held at a later date at Enloe Cemetery, Russellville, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be held for Rob at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to People Helping Paws Rescue of Jefferson City, the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
