Mr. Burke, a former Rock Island Railroad employee and resident of Americus since 1957, was born July 21st, 1897, in Rose Hill, Va., the son of Ora and Dora Thomas Burke. He was married on Aug. 16th, 1922, in Holton, to his first wife, Zora F. Pepple, who died on Aug. 26th, 1953, and he was married on July 3rd. 1957, in Americus, to Margaret Lowe, who survives. Mr. Burke was a veteran of World War I, a member, and elder, of the United Presbyterian Church, a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club in Americus, the Boilermakers Union in Kansas City, Mo., and Lyon County Barracks 1111, Veterans of World War I. Mr. Burke was preceded in death by his first wife and one daughter, Aloha, and he is survived by his second wife: seven sons, Lyle and Robert, of Papillion. Neb.; Ronald, of Dayton, Ohio; Kenneth, of Longview, Wash.: Roland, of Horton: Elwood, of Huron: and Eldon, of Holton: six daughters, Mesdames William (Peggy) Allen and Francis (Aloma) Heim, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Bryan (Wanda) McCluskey, Silverton, Ore.; Mrs. Wayne (Wyowma) Pollard, Abilene, Tex.; Mrs. Dale (Twella) Baker, Horton; and Mrs. Rollen (Reowna) Ross, Silver Lake; three brothers, Paul, of Kingman; Raleigh, of Topeka: and Hogue of Coffeyville: two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Golden) Larson, Topeka, and Mrs. Marvin (Opal) Johnson, Wetmore, 46 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
